یکی از مشکلات اصلی در پیوند اعضا این است که بدن بیمار عضو پیوندی جدید را به عنوان یک جسم خارجی شناسایی کند و به آن حمله کند.

محققان می گویند اگر همراه با پیوند کلیه، به بیمار پیوندی سلول های بنیادی هم تزریق شود، نیاز او برای مصرف همیشگی دارو و دستکاری در سیستم ایمنی از بین خواهد رفت.

آزمایش های اولیه با این شیوه در بیمارستان های آمریکا بر تعدادی از بیماران با موفقیت انجام شده است.

نشریه علمی "ساینس ترنسلیشنال مدیسن"در مقاله ای توضیح داده چگونه این روش می تواند نیاز به مصرف داروی مادام العمر را برای جلوگیری از پس زدن کلیه پیوندی از بین ببرد.

محققان می گویند این شیوه می تواند "تاثیر جدی" بر علم پیوند در پزشکی داشته باشد.

یکی از مشکلات اصلی در پیوند اعضا این است که بدن بیمار عضو پیوندی جدید را یک جسم خارجی تشخیص می دهد و به آن حمله می کند.

برای مقابله با این مشکل بیماران مجبورند مادام العمر داروهایی قوی برای تضعیف سیستم ایمنی بدنشان مصرف کنند.

مصرف این داروها نیز مخاطرات خود را دارد؛ فشار خون را بالا می برد و باعث بیماری قند و عفونت های جدی می شود.

چالش ها

این تحقیق در دانشگاه لویسول و بیمارستان "نورثوسترن مموریال" در شهر شیکاگو و روی هشت بیمار انجام شده است.

عضو پیوندی متعلق به اهدا کننده های در قید حیات بوده که در عین حال از آنها سلول های بنیادی هم گرفته شده بود.

سیستم ایمنی بدن بیمار پیوندی نیز پیش از عمل با استفاده از شیمی درمانی و رادیوتراپی تضعیف شده بود.

پیوند انجام شد و چند روز بعد از آن سلولهای بنیادی به بیماران تزریق شد.

ایده اصلی این است که با این کار سیستم ایمنی تازه ای ایجاد شود که دیگر عضو پیوندی را به عنوان جسم خارجی شناسایی نکند.

اگر چه بیماران در ابتدا برای تضعیف سیستم ایمنی خود دارو دریافت کردند اما هدف محققان این بود که تدریجا این دارو را کم و نهایتا حذف کنند.

۵ نفر از ۸ بیماری که این شیوه پیوند را انجام داده بودند ظرف یکسال از مصرف دارو بی نیاز شده اند.

یکی از این بیماران لیندسی پورتر ۴۷ ساله از شیکاگوست که می گوید: " من درباره مشکلات جدی بیماران پیوندی شنیده ام و این که من اینقدر احساس سلامتی می کنم برایم فرای واقعیت است."

دکتر ژوزف لونتال، دستیار جراحی در دانشگاه نورث وسترن می گوید" نتایج اولیه از این تحقیق که هنوز ادامه دارد خیلی هیجان انگیز است و می تواند تاثیری جدی بر آینده علم پیوند عضو داشته باشد."

به گفته وی این تکنیک می تواند زندگی تمام کسانی را که عضو پیوندی دارند بهبود ببخشد.

اگرچه سلول های بنیادی اهدا کنندگان پیش از این هم مورد استفاده قرار گرفته بودند اما این اولین بار است که این سلول ها برای پیوند هایی غیر تطبیقی به کار رفته اند.

در پیوندهای غیر تطبیقی اهدا کننده و بیمار خویشاوند نیستند و سیستم ایمنی مشابهی ندارند.
